چکیده

Given a set of elements and a symmetric matrix representing dissimilarities between them, the maximally diverse grouping problem asks to find a partitioning of the elements into a fixed number of restricted size-groups such that the sum of pairwise dissimilarities between elements in the same group is maximized. We present multistart simulated annealing, hybrid genetic and variable neighborhood search algorithms for solving this problem. We report on computational experiments that compare the performance of these algorithms on benchmark instances of size up to 2000 elements.

Adaptive Memory Programming for the Maximally Diverse Grouping Problem

The maximally diverse grouping problem (MDGP) is an NP-hard problem that consists of forming groups from a given set of elements in such a way that the diversity in the groups is maximized. The MDGP has applications in academics, such as creating diverse teams of students, or in design of VLSI circuits. In this paper we propose a new procedure based on the tabu search methodology to obtain high...

Effect of Objective Function on the Optimization of Highway Vertical Alignment by Means of Metaheuristic Algorithms

The main purpose of this work is the comparison of several objective functions for optimization of the vertical alignment. To this end, after formulation of optimum vertical alignment problem based on different constraints, the objective function was considered as four forms including: 1) the sum of the absolute value of variance between the vertical alignment and the existing ground; 2) the su...

Study of buffer effects on the grouping efficacy measure of stochastic cell formation problem

This paper deals the stochastic cell formation problem (SCFP). The paper presents a new nonlinear integer programming model for the SCFP in which the effect of buffer size on the grouping efficacy of cells has been investigated. The objective function is the maximization of the grouping efficacy of cells. A chance constraint is applied to explore the effect of buffer on the SCFP. Processing tim...

Three Metaheuristic Algorithms for Solving the Multi-item Capacitated Lot-sizing Problem with Product Returns and Remanufacturing

This paper proposes a new mixed integer programming model for multi-item capacitated lot-sizing problem with setup times, safety stock and demand shortages in closed-loop supply chains. The returned products from customers can either be disposed or be remanufactured to be sold as new ones again. Due to the complexity of problem, three meta-heuristics algorithms named simulated annealing (SA) al...

A New Efficient Metaheuristic Model for Stock Portfolio Management and its Performance Evaluation by Risk-adjusted Methods

In this research, we proposed a new metaheuristic technique for stock portfolio multi-objective optimization employing the combination of Strength Pareto Evolutionary Algorithm (SPEA), Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and Arbitrage Pricing Theory (APT). To generate the more precise model, ANFIS has implemented to envisage long-term movement values of the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE)...
